DIY Guide to Create Your Own Hair Replacement Template

Step 1: Part/Section the Balding/Thinning Area
Using a comfortable comb, section your hair, focusing on the areas on the top of your head that are experiencing hair loss or thinning. This separation allows for a clear view and easy handling in the following steps.

Step 2: Draw the Hairline
With an eyeliner pen, sketch a realistic hairline that complements your head shape, age, and personal preferences. This step should make you feel confident and is the foundation of your hair replacement look.

Guidelines to Follow:

1. Determine the Minimum Height: Place your hand on your forehead, centering it with your pinky finger resting on the bridge of your nose.
2. Expression Check: Frown or look surprised to ensure you draw the hairline above the highest expression line.
3. Use Skin Texture as a Guide: The texture difference between your forehead and scalp can help locate where your hair used to be.
4. Ensure you're happy with the drawn hairline before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Place the Plastic Film on Your Head

1. Cut a Piece of Plastic Film: Approximately 1 meter in length.
2. Position the Film: Place it over your head, with the long side spanning from shoulder to shoulder and the short side about 2-3 cm below the drawn hairline. Hold the ends with each hand or tie them lightly below your chin.
3. Ensure the film covers the entire balding area. If needed, add another piece of film.
4. Twist Above the Ears: Tighten the film above your ears to stabilize the top.
5. Secure with Tape: Fix the film on your forehead with three small pieces of tape (center, left, and right), avoiding eyebrows.
6. Secure the Back: Use a larger piece of tape placed on your hair at the back to keep the film in place.

Step 4: Draw Around the Balding/Thinning Area
With a permanent marker, trace over the hairline on the plastic film, following the original drawing from Step 2. Extend the drawing to outline the balding areas, ensuring you include all thinning hair.

Important Points:

1. If unsure about the healthy hair boundary, draw slightly below your estimate. You can adjust the template later.
2. Carefully analyze the back of your head’s balding area, considering any thinning regions lower than the main balding area.

Step 5: Mark the Crown and Sides
Mark your natural crown with an "X" and a circle. If you prefer a different crown position, mark it accordingly. Note your left (L), right (R), front (F), and back (B) sides to help with later alignment.

Step 6: Create a Hard Shell Using Reinforced Filament Tape
Pre-cut strips of tape for two layers: horizontal (10-15 cm) and vertical (20-25 cm).

- Horizontal Layer: Start from the hairline, overlapping each strip by about 10% until you cover the entire area.
- Vertical Layer: Repeat the process with vertical strips to form a sturdy template.

Step 7: Remove the Template
Gently remove the template, carefully detaching the tape from your skin and hair.

Step 8: Cut the Excess Material
With scissors, trim the excess material around the drawn line, cutting on the outside edge of the line.

Step 9: Validate the Template
1. Place the trimmed template back on your head. Ensure it aligns perfectly with the drawn hairline.
2. Match Sides: Ensure the left and right sides are correctly labeled (L and R).
3. Check Fit: Hold the template in place and lift the edges to check for excess coverage.
4. If necessary, mark a new edge and trim the template smaller.
5. Repeat adjustments until the template fits perfectly and is validated.

Step 10: Label the Template
1. Write your name on the template in small letters.
